What's Gosple?
GOSPELという言葉はもともと「God's spell」 神からのよい知らせの意であり神様からの素晴らしい喜びの知らせであり「福音」「Good News」という意味だそうです。

奴隷としてアメリカ大陸に連行されたアフリカ人は彼ら独自の言語・宗教などをいっさい剥奪された。
その苦しい状況下で、彼らのうちのある人々は、救いを与えるゴスペル（福音）と出会い、個人的なキリスト教への改心を経て、神に彼ら独自の賛美をささげるようになった。
こうしてアフリカ特有の跳躍するリズム、ブルー・ノート・スケールや口承の伝統などとヨーロッパ賛美歌などの音楽的・詩的感性が融合してスピリチュアル（黒人霊歌 negro spiritual などとも言う）という現在のゴスペルの基調となる音楽が生まれた。
後年になってジャズやロックなど様々なジャンルと結びついてその音楽性は今も進化し続けている。
・・・とにかく、ゴスペルとは何より皆で楽しく躍動的に美しく歌える音楽です。歌っていると、なんだか楽しく、幸せな気持ちになれる音楽です。
